Board of Patrons

Smart IoT is the event to interpret, as well as describe, the IoT and the opportunities it brings, providing a route map for organisations looking to develop their IoT strategies.

The 2018 event will be guided by a board of patrons comprised of some of the world’s leading IoT innovators, practitioners and thought leaders. They will help us define the most relevant subject matters and identify the best speakers for the conference.

Chairman: Andy Mulholland – Constellation Research

Andy Mulholland is Vice President and Principal Analyst focusing on cloud business models. Formerly the Global Chief Technology Officer for the Capgemini Group from 2001 to 2011, Mulholland successfully led the organisation through a period of mass disruption. Mulholland brings this experience to Constellation’s clients seeking to understand how Digital Business models will be built and deployed in conjunction with existing IT systems.

Scott Amyx was voted one of the Top 25 Global Speakers by Speaking.com. Scott is a thoughtleader,speaker, and author on wearables and the Internet of Things and the Managing Partner at Venture1st and CEO of Amyx+McKinsey. He has been nominated by the Republic of Korea to represent cuttingedge research and case studies on wearables and the Internet of Things at the ITU Telecom World 2015 in Budapest. He will debut the concept of “The Digital Currency of Happiness” at TEDx. Intel & TBS’s America’s Greatest Makers look to Scott to recommend the most promising startups. As a thought leader in wearables & IoT, Scott explores the intersection of enterprise implications and consumer decisions of adopting wearables & IoT technologies.

Richard Foggie - Innovation Broker, The Knowledge Transfer Network

Thirty years’ experience in health, science & technology and Whitehall, Richard has been advocating and working to advance eHealth and Technology Enabled Care Services for much of his career.

Now an innovation broker with the KTN he strives to create business and service innovations that address societal challenges within the UK and EU.

Caroline Gorski

Caroline Gorski - Global Partnership Director at Rolls-Royce (Digital)

Caroline Gorski is fomerly the Head of the Internet of Things (IoT) at the Digital Catapult. She is a commercial leader with more than 20 years experience in strategy consulting, market development and commercial decision-making at FTSE 100 board-level.

Caroline has lead as the Head of Business Development – IoT for Telefonica UK. Identifying, nurturing and delivering transformational business ideas, combining powerful data insights from millions of customers with network intelligence and machine-learning.

Her interest is in how technology transforms the experiences of consumers – and therefore changes how we all live and interact.

Jayraj Nair

Jayraj Nair – Global Head of IoT, Wipro

As Global Head of IoT, Jayraj drives Wipro’s leadership role in the broader IoT and Industry 4.0 ecosystem, strengthening our presence by driving revenue growth of the IoT business, setting our strategic and technological direction, and building the current team to capitalise on our significant investment in the digital space.

Based in Silicon Valley’s hotbed of technological activity, Jayraj is inspired by the sheer velocity of innovation all around him. In his career, he has witnessed the evolution of compute, storage and networking technologies, their price/performance value and capability transformation creating significant societal impact and real business value in our hyper-connected world. 

Vinnett Taylor

Vinnett Taylor - Head of IoT Sales, O2 Telefonica

Vinnett has spent her career as an entrepreneurial and commercial lead delivering multi-million pound technology partnerships and has a successful track record of first to market launches. She is a non-executive, a mentor and an investor in several start-ups from Cloud security, video surveillance, machine learning to artificial intelligence and smart connected thermostats.

Vinnett is currently Head of IoT Sales (IoT) at O2, Telefonica UK, where she leads a dedicated team. She is a recognised IoT thought-leader and a regular speaker at government policy and industry conferences.

Vinnett represents O2 for several Government-funded project boards; Driven, which is trialling a fleet of driverless vehicles using UK-built software and GATEway (Greenwich Automated Transport Environment) which is conducting trials to understand how people respond, engage with and accept automated/driverless vehicles.

Henrik played a significant role to define Germany's digital agenda in 09,
which was adopted by the European Commission in 2010 as part of the Europe 2020. The digital agenda evolved into the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0).

Through his academic research, he has evolved the mainstream thinking of what is being taught at universities and applied by organizations today. He has personally been involved in, to enable the Fortune 500 and Governments to outthink, outcompete & outperform. 

John Bates

John Bates - CEO, TestPlant

Dr. John Bates is a visionary technologist and highly-accomplished business leader. He currently serves as CEO of TestPlant - the leader in Digital Automation Intelligence – with the mission to revolutionize the process of software testing.

John pioneered the space of streaming analytics as Co-founder, President and CTO of Apama (acquired by Progress Software in 2005 and now part of Software AG). He drove the evolution of platforms for digital business while serving as EVP of Corporate Strategy and CTO at Progress Software (NASDAQ:PRGS), and as CTO of Big Data, Head of Industry Solutions and CMO at Software AG (Frankfurt TecDAX:SOW). More recently he drove the commercial development of platforms to support Internet of Things applications, serving as CEO at Plat.One (acquired by SAP in 2016). John holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Cambridge University, UK and is the author of the book “Thingalytics: Smart Big Data Analytics for the Internet of Things”.

Hans Lombardo

Hans Lombardo - Founder, Chain of Things

Hans is a successful entrepreneur and enthusiastic proponent of blockchain technologies. He is a co-founder and chief strategy officer of Chain of Things - a Hong Kong-based startup integrating blockchain & IoT devices. In 2012, he sold his previous company, a data capture and analysis research firm focused on mainland Chinese high-technology industries. He is an Internet industry veteran with regional management experience. 
Geraldina Iraheta

Geraldina Iraheta - Business Development Director, Digital Catapult 

Geraldina is responsible for business development at Digital Catapult. In her role she engages directly with UK corporates to help drive a culture of innovation and empower businesses to prosper and scale through the application of leading-edge digital technologies.

She brings a wealth of experience, having previously held key positions at Deutsche Telekom and T-Mobile, as well as Critical Path Inc. in San Francisco. This level of expertise is further strengthened by her experience working with start-ups, academia and investors, both in the UK and internationally.
