  • SmartWorld Connect, the tech start-up building Smart City App platforms, is a finalist in a government-backed scheme to showcase the best Smart IoT innovations with business potential.


    SmartWorld Connect will compete in the Best Start-Up Concept; Best Market Potential and Best Longevity of Concept categories.


    “These events are great for start-ups like us where we can show the audiences some unique solutions to real world issues,” says Tony Bicknell, CEO of SmartWorld Connect.


    “While the smart footfall mapping, visitor engagement, smart parking and waste management apps give the best commercial payback to cities, it is the use of app technology to connect the city to its users that will generate the greatest long-term benefits.”


    Smart IoT London 2018 is the leading digital transformation event for business and government and part of the largest technology show staged in the UK.


    The event is staged at the Excel Centre on 21 and 22 March 2018.


    The awards are organised by the Knowledge Transfer Network, part of the government’s Innovate UK programme. The scheme helps to fund and connect businesses to develop the new products, processes and services that will meet or define the markets of the future.

    Following on from the success of a technology trial at 10 Flagship properties earlier this year, Phase 2 of the project benefitting hundreds of customers has launched this week (Tuesday 5 December).

    The second phase aims to reduce fuel poverty and rent arrears, prevent damp and mould, increase digital usage and improve boiler maintenance at 493 properties across 11 towns in Norfolk and Suffolk.

    It is anticipated the technology will also have a significant impact on Flagship’s housing and asset management costs in the long-term.
